Rescue crews recovered the body of a man who reportedly jumped from the Manchester Bridge into the James River at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, according reports from NBC12.com.  The man, who was not immediately identified, was recovered about a half-hour later by a fire and rescue team in an inflatable boat launched from Brown’s Island.

A witness told Richmond Police that the man jumped off the east side of the bridge, landing in the James River below. Water levels are above five feet today, but the river is shallow and rocky in the area under the bridge. His body was recovered about  200 yards downstream, just before the rapids in the middle of the river at Vauxhall Island. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him the next day as Bobby L. Nunnally, 58, of the 5500 block of Jarvis Road.

A man jumped to his death from the 14th Street Bridge (Mayo Bridge) in November, 2010.
